Once again the curtain is falling on what has been another busy and eventful year.

We have had rises and falls in our Livestock and Wool markets. Wool prices have reached great heights while the livestock market has still been buoyant enough to make a bob out of.

The main down side in our area like so many others has been the prolonged dry. We have received late spring and early summer rains which has been very beneficial in the higher country east of Gundagai, their season varies 4 to 6 weeks later than the lower country to the west of town.

Gundagai itself is booming, with the new main street upgrade which cost $ 5 million being completed in April and has received rave reviews from all and sundry.

We have large enquires from people living in the city and large regional areas that want the quieter life and location, with Gundagai being 90 minutes from Canberra, 45 minutes to Wagga Wagga and 3 hours from Sydney and the coast.

The main requirement being a home in town or a small block out of town with or without a home. Having the stock to fill their requirement is the issue unfortunately.

On top of that we are constantly receiving enquires for larger scale productive rural properties.

We have just had a great month of entertainment in Gundagai kicking off with the National Busking Championships competition on the 27th October, great entertainment in front of a large and enthusiastic crowd.

The Gundagai Race Club again ran a very successful Snake Gully Cup Carnival on the 16th & 17th November with 6,000 people in attendance on the Friday and 2,500 attending “Hair of the Dog” Cup on Saturday.

A fortnight later the record breaking Gundagai Rodeo was held, being one of the most popular in the eastern state with all the top Australian and overseas riders attending.

Elders Gundagai and Tumut staff wish everyone a Merry Christmas and a happy and prosperous New Year. Enjoy the break and be ready for a big year ahead and hopefully we have more properties for sale.
